Close Beside You I am Here

In the early morning hours when our body
cannot rest,
We think back to the cross and how Jesus
passed the test.
He bore the mark of beatings that would
last throughout all time,
The precious Lamb of God, crucified
without a crime.
Our bodies are not permanent, no temple
thru the ages,
Throughout our time on earth the fight
within us rages.
God has this body in his hand, controlling
what he made,
Fear not trials of the flesh for he has
made the trade.
He not only died for us, upon the tree
that day,
He took the stripes to heal us, our pain
ended that way.
Rest in peace tonight my friend, in God's
abiding care,
He is working in your life, beside you
ever there.
Close your eyes and sleep now, my dear and
precious friend,
Our Heavenly Father is by you, and will be
to the end,
Holding you close to him and gently
whispering in your ear,
Rest now my precious Carrie, close beside
you I am here.
